Even though we're missing school Tuesday and Wednesday, we still need to stay on track with taking the quiz on Thursday.
There will be multiple versions of the quiz in circulation, so it's just luck of the draw as to what questions you get. The format for each is the same:
Question 1 on one version will ask for an example of an argument using inductive reasoning and a short explanation of how it is inductive. On another version, an example of an argument using deductive reasoning and a short explanation of how it is deductive.
Questions 2 and 3 are about logical fallacies. You'll be supplied a list of five or six, and you'll be asked to take any two of those and give examples and explanations of each.
Question 4 will have a short passage. You'll either be asked to identify
a) ethos, pathos, logos, and karios
or
b) claim, evidence, warrants
in it.
Since we won't have time for review, I've given my first pass at an answer key for some of the Logical Fallacy questions in a Google Doc here. You can access it with your school Google Account only. Compare it to the answers you came up with.
If you have any questions about the quiz in general or the Logical Fallacy exercises in particular, post them as comments below. I'll answer them as best as I can, but I wouldn't count on any answers after 9pm.
