Get a marble composition notebook or opt to use your school Google Docs account for some journal assignments. I will ask you to submit your journals to me the day the entries are due. With a notebook, that means putting it in my hand. With Google Docs, that means sharing the document with me from your school address. Don’t wait until Sunday evening to try to find a physical notebook or try to figure out how to use Google Docs.
Both of these journal entries are due on Monday:
Journal Entry #1
Tell me about yourself, as it pertains to this course. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a writer, why are you taking this course, what do you want from the year, what worries you about the year, etc. ~300words
Journal Entry #2
Using the sample course rubric, score an old essay of yours. Circle the level of writing you achieved in the rows and columns, give yourself an A-F grade, and then write a few lines of comments at the bottom. Then write a journal entry in which you reflect on the rubric, your scoring, and writing in general. ~300 words. If you have a physical journal, staple the essay and rubric to the appropriate page. If you have a Google Doc journal, turn in the essay and rubric on Monday. (Feel free to drop by the English Department to look through your Writing Folder on Friday.)
